Meeting Called to Order 7:21 p.m. at Robbins Lodge by Chair Greck
Treasurer’s Report – Balance $5,218.77
Discussion held regarding challenge donation offered matching dollar for dollar any dues or donations between 12/1/2006 to 5/31/2007 up to $2,500. Persons having an interest in DALT’s work and goals are encouraged to accept this challenge.
Old Business –
- Land Trust Alliance application was submitted early January. The application fee of $125 was a personal contribution from Fred Segal and DALT greatly appreciates his generosity.
- Online credit card status - Fred Segal is verifying that terms offered by 2nd vendor at previous presentation is still valid. Judy Paul will pursue researching companies that offer cash back.
- Meeting speakers – a speaker coordinator is needed to schedule future meeting presentations and confirm speakers. Joyce Steward and Doris Monier have contacted members of the Audubon Society, South Florida Water Management will be contacted to schedule their representative. DALT is searching for a tax expert to speak on the recent tax law changes for conservation easements
- New brochure design was reviewed. Pam Pelkey-Rose, Mike Rose and their company Illuminart, Inc. sponsored the design. DALT greatly appreciates their generosity.
New Business –
- Upcoming events: Orange Blossom Festival, February 24 and 25. Chair Greck will be the coordinator. Theme this year is “Stagecoach line to online”. Shirley Munson is transforming our tee shirts into a great marketing item we will be selling at the event. Discussion was held in the merits of offering a free gift for a $100 or larger membership. VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO HELP WITH THE STAFFING OF DALT BOOTH. It is a great opportunity to take part in this long-running event and meet lots of really great people.
- Water Matters Day, March 24. Doris Monier will be the coordinator. John LaDue will assist.
- VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO STAFF THE BOOTH. Also a great event with many opportunities to talk with the public about DALT.
- DALT will pursue the installation of a windmill on behalf of DALT at Robbins Lodge. A meeting will be scheduled with Roy Rogers, Linda Greck, John LaDue and Davie town administrator for the details. Once installed, a fundraising event will be held.
- January 22, 2007, a meeting will be held by Town of Davie with the public to discuss the farm park. Update at February meeting of DALT.

Meeting Called to Order 7:20 p.m. by Chair Linda Greck at Robbins Lodge
Minutes – Motion to approve January 8, 2007 minutes Fred Segal, second Doris Monier. Since there was no quorum at February 5 meeting, no minutes to be approved.
Old business:
- Land Trust Alliance Update - membership is not authenticated yet – application will be resubmitted.
- Credit card processing for DALT is now up and running.
- Speakers – the next speaker scheduled is Lisa Baumbach of Audubon Society scheduled for April 2, 2007 meeting.
- Orange Blossom Festival yielded $116 from donations and 1 new member.
- Water Matters Day is March 24 and DALT will have a booth needing volunteers at the event.
- Motion made by Joyce Steward, second Doris Monier to purchase more mini frisbees, minimum order.
Discussion held regarding installation of a windmill at Robbins Lodge Preserve. Approval from Town of Davie and cooperation of Roy Rogers will be solicited. An event dedicating the windmill is tentatively scheduled for April 22, 2007 Earth Day. Joyce Steward suggested applying for a Broward Beautiful Grant to landscape the area around the windmill.
New Donations to be recorded and to be included in the Matching Grant fund raiser:
- - $225 donated for the cost of designing DALT new brochures by Illuminart, Inc.
- - $ 40 by Linda Greck for the cost of the credit card swiper
- - $68 donated by Fred Segal for the cost of filing Uniform Code State Report

Meeting called to Order by Vice Chairman Michael Bartlett at 7:10 p.m. Robbins Lodge.

Old business:
- Windmill progress – Michael Bartlett will contact Ken Cohen, Town of Davie, for status on approval of location of windmill in Robbins Preserve.
- Shopping cart online – in process of being activated.
- Water Matters Day – cash donation $87. $60 in sale of tee shirts.
- May meeting – featured speaker will be Tim Regan, Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission
Featured Speaker for April -
- Lisa Baumbach Reardon – Audubon Society. Ms. Reardon grew up in Hollywood and started birding in the area known as West Lake Park. She saw development coming and wrote to Broward County. The press alerted the neighborhood and the community saved the land for a park. “One person can make a difference”. It began her quest for saving the environment. Easy steps to help:
- - recycle
- – conserve water and electricity
- – reduce gas consumption
- – natural plantings
- – volunteer to teach a class on environment or write the newspaper on an issue.
- - The Sierra Club and Audubon Society have online advocacy. No need to attend meetings – use your time at home. Contact Audubon Society to establish a bird habitat.
- - Naturescape Broward will do an analysis of a homeowner’s yard.

Meeting called to order 7:15 p.m. by Chair Linda Greck at Robbins Lodge.
Self introductions by attendees.
Treasurer’s Report - Balance as of 10/31/2007 $8,046.65. Beginning balance Jan 1 ,2007, was $5056.55.
New member Diane Epstein invited the officers to submit articles to be published in the Davie and the Ranches magazine regarding DALT accomplishments and events.
A break was called to enjoy a nice catered dinner for members and guests.
Speaker Steve Weinsier offered comments on water and the environment. South Florida is unique that there are no natural lakes. He stressed the importance of caring for natural areas, existing lakes and the watering system. He advised that a free irrigation evaluation is available to South Florida residents from the Broward Soil and Water Conservation District. Following his speaking, a question and answer session brought out several important topics. Mr. Weinsier’s talk was very interesting and appreciated by all.

Chairman’s report – Linda Greck, Chairperson, presented a recap of the accomplishments for the past year and some of the goals for the near future. A copy of her report is available upon request.
Election of Board Members – Board positions held by Fred Segal, Linda Greck and Michael Bartlett were made available for nomination. Motion by Judy Paul, second Eduardo Tkacz nominated all 3 to retain their positions. Unanimously approved.
Election of Officers –

Broward Beautiful Grant - update - waiting for certificate from Broward County to proceed with landscaping of the SW 8 St park. Project must be completed by August 29, 2008.
Windmill – John LaDue is working thru the Town for approval.
PLAM Conference - Motion by Fred Segal, second John LaDue for DALT to send 1 person to Sarasota Dec 5 thru 7, 2007, for this conference if any board officers are available to attend. DALT will reimburse expense for lodging and registration.
NEW BUSINESS
- 2008 Schedule – DALT will continue to meet the first Monday of each month at Robbins Lodge. Chair Greck will follow thru with scheduling with Town of Davie.
- Pam Pelkey-Rose will design a new look for DALT booth in time for the Orange Blossom Festival. She will assist with the purchase or assist with obtaining any new items approved by DALT.
